Chris Farish

Chris Farish collaborative family law attorney dallasChris is an associate with Quaid & Quaid, LLC, where practices in the area of collaborative family law and family law litigation, handling divorce, custody, LGBT partner agreements, LGBT partner dissolution, adoption, and enforcement cases.  He believes the courtroom offers limited solutions that do not fit the needs of most clients, and should be used as sparingly as possible. Rather than merely running clients through an assembly line from Petition to trial, Chris aims to facilitate agreements that empower his clients with tools for their future by encouraging clients to consider the benefits of the collaborative process or other means of non-adversarial resolution, if at all possible.  By focusing parents on a final resolution based on interests and goals rather than one constructed from positional arguments, Chris helps provide the means to co‑parent in a respectful manner in the future, which is always in the best interest of the children.

Chris also handles some small estate wills and probate matters, and on occasion general civil and corporate litigation.

Chris received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He received his B.A. in English Composition with a Certification in Technical Writing from the University of North Texas, where he graduated with honors.

Prior to graduating from college, Chris studied abroad in England, studying the history and literature of England, Scotland, and Wales.  Chris returned to England in law school to study for a summer at University College in Oxford, taking a comprehensive look at the English Legal System.  While in law school, Chris also studied mediation and dispute resolution at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.

Chris is currently coordinating the Blog project for the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas; and serves as on the Online Education Committee and the International Forum Proposal Review Committee of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and is the Immediate Past-President of the Collaborative Professionals of Dallas.  He also serves as the President of the Collin County Young Lawyers Association; is listed as a Texas SuperLawyers – Rising Star in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and serves on multiple committees for the Dallas Bar Association, including serving as the Vice-Chair of the Entertainment Committee.
